Explicitus Est Liber

Brad Goldberg (1959-), Garrison Roots (1952-2011)

Translating to ‘The Book Is Open’, explicitus est liber is the entry plaza installation to the Benjamin L. Hooks Library. Goldberg and Roots used granite to create massive cylindrical ‘scrolls’ that represent the knowledge and wisdom that is held within a library. The installation also features a plethora of symbols and messages engraved within the granite, inviting the viewer to study the piece further.
